AI 3D Studio — Photo to 3D Model in Seconds

Turn photos and prompts into 3D models — Trellis, Hunyuan3D, Tripo.

Upload one image, get a textured 3D mesh. That's the workflow AI 3D finally unlocked, and PixelDance wraps the three best models — Trellis, Hunyuan3D, Tripo — behind one picker.

Use cases: game-ready props, e-commerce product visualization, AR/VR prototyping, 3D-printing reference meshes, concept art turnarounds. Downloads come as GLB / GLTF / OBJ with baked PBR textures — ready for Blender, Unity, Unreal, or any DCC pipeline.

Three model families, three trade-offs

Trellis 2 (default) — Microsoft's structured 3D generator. Best geometry + texture balance for general objects. Clean topology, good for downstream sculpting or animation.

Hunyuan3D (2 / 2mini) — Tencent's fast-path model. Quicker renders, slightly softer details. Hunyuan3D-2mini Turbo is the speed king when you want iteration.

Tripo 2.5 / 3 — Tripo's image-to-3d line. Strong on characters and organic forms; sometimes surprises on mechanical objects.

Run the same input image through all three, pick the mesh with the cleanest topology for your use case.

How it works

  1. 1

    Prep a clean reference image

Front-facing or three-quarter view. Single subject, neutral background, good lighting. Remove the background first if possible (white or alpha) — dramatically improves mesh quality.
  2. 2

    Pick a model

Trellis 2 for general objects. Hunyuan3D-2 Turbo for fast iteration. Tripo for characters. Run all three if fidelity matters.
  3. 3

    Tune polygon / quality tier

Low (~20k tris) for real-time / game use. Medium (~60k) balanced. High (~120k) for rendering / 3D print. Higher = longer render.
  4. 4

    Download + import

Wait ~60–180 seconds. Preview the mesh rotating in-browser. Download GLB / GLTF / OBJ — drag straight into Blender / Unity / Unreal.

Which 3D model to pick

  • Trellis 2 — Clean topology, balanced for general objects. Our default pick when topology downstream matters (rigging, sculpting, animation).
  • Hunyuan3D-2 — Fast, good for product visualization and e-commerce. Hunyuan3D-2mini Turbo is the fastest path when iterating.
  • Tripo 2.5 / 3 — Strongest on characters, organic forms (creatures, figurines, busts). Sometimes wins on mechanical too — test.
  • TRELLIS 2 variants handle texture nicely out of the box; Tripo textures sometimes need a cleanup pass in Substance or Blender.

Tips for better meshes

  • Remove the image background first — background-removal tools (or PixelDance's Upscale → Background Remove workflow) dramatically improve output.
  • Front or three-quarter view beats pure side view. Models extrapolate from what they can see.
  • For hard-surface mechanical objects, Trellis 2 at medium polygon is usually sharpest.
  • For characters, Tripo is worth trying first — it handles face geometry more naturally.

AI 3D Generator — Questions we hear

What file formats do I get?▾
GLB (most common — single-file format with baked textures), GLTF (GLB's open sibling), and OBJ (with separate texture maps). All three are supported by Blender, Unity, Unreal, Maya, and any standard 3D pipeline.
Is the mesh ready for animation / rigging?▾
Topology is clean enough for sculpting and static rendering. For character rigging you'll want to retopo in Blender or ZBrush — auto-generated meshes aren't quad-flow perfect. For props and environment assets, they're ready as-is.
How long does a generation take?▾
Typical 60–180 seconds. Hunyuan3D-2mini Turbo completes in 40–60s. Trellis 2 at high polygon takes 2–3 minutes. Queue time varies with provider load.
Can I use the 3D output commercially?▾
Yes. All three model families permit commercial use. You own the generated meshes — use in games, products, AR/VR apps, 3D prints.
What input image works best?▾
Clean front or 3/4 view, single subject, neutral / removed background, good even lighting. Hero product shots work great; busy scene photos don't.
Does it work for multi-object scenes?▾
Poorly. AI 3D models assume single-subject input. For multi-object scenes, segment and generate each piece separately, then compose in Blender.
